Le CV de Vincent Taurelle est aussi long qu’impressionnant. Depuis qu’il a reçu son prix au conservatoire de Paris, le pianiste a multiplié les expériences du jazz à la pop. Tony Allen, Sébastien Tellier, Vincent Ségal, Mélissa Laveaux ou encore Alain Souchon sont quelques-uns des très nombreux artistes avec qui il a collaboré comme musicien, arrangeur ou producteur.
Sa participation à la direction musicale des dates promotionnelles autours de la sortie du premier album de Charlotte Gainsbourg, lui fera croiser la route de Jean-Benoît Dunckel et Nicolas Godin de Air qui lui demanderont de les accompagner pour deux ans de tournée internationale. « Je suis devenu le premier musicien français avec qui ils ont travaillé sur scène. J’ai beaucoup appris avec eux.»
En parallèle, en 2006, il y aura l’expérience - extrêmement formatrice elle aussi - de coproduire l’album Lipopette Bar d’Oxmo Puccino pour les besoins duquel il forme le groupe The Jazzbastards avec ses amis Ludovic Bruni et Vincent Taeger. Expérience renouvelée avec le disque L’Arme de paix dont il sera aussi un des coproducteurs : « J’ai toujours eu le goût du son. Durant toute cette époque où j’ai enchaîné les séances en studio, j’ai appris de manière empirique en observant et en posant des tas de questions. Et c’est en me jetant dans le grand bain pour Oxmo que je suis devenu, de fait, ingénieur du son ». Bien d’autres aventures, sur scène ou en studio, avec Beck, Katerine, Oumou Sangaré ou The Foals, ont suivi, jusqu'à la rencontre avec le duo Justice avec qui il collabore aujourd’hui sur l’enregistrement de leur quatrième album. « J’aime enregistrer, j’aime avoir les mains sur la console, j’aime mettre des disto, de la reverb, m’amuser avec les joujoux qu’on a en studio pour donner du charisme à la musique. C’est exaltant d’arriver à compléter la vision d’un artiste pour donner plus de style à la musique ». Aujourd’hui, il fait partie de ces artistes complets, capables de comprendre la musique, de la jouer, d’improviser, mais aussi de « régler facilement un problème d’accord et savoir si le son est joli ».
Mais à 42 ans, Vincent Taurelle sait aussi qu’il n’a plus seulement envie de se faire plaisir à lui-même : « J’ai dépassé ce stade. J’ai envie de faire de la musique qui s’adresse vraiment aux gens »

Vincent Taurelle's resume is long and impressive. Since his graduation from the Paris Conservatory, the pianist has multiplied his experiences from jazz to pop. Tony Allen, Sébastien Tellier, Vincent Ségal, Mélissa Laveaux and Alain Souchon are just a few of the many artists with whom he has collaborated as a musician, arranger or producer.
His participation in the musical direction of the promotional dates around the release of Charlotte Gainsbourg's first album, will make him cross paths with Jean-Benoît Dunckel and Nicolas Godin of Air who will ask him to accompany them on a two-year international tour. "I became the first French musician they worked with on stage. I learned a lot with them."
At the same time, in 2006, he had the experience - also extremely formative - of co-producing Oxmo Puccino's album Lipopette Bar for which he formed the group The Jazzbastard with his friends Ludovic Bruni and Vincent Taeger. This experience was renewed with the album L'Arme de paix, of which he was also one of the co-producers: "I've always had a taste for sound. During the whole period when I was doing studio sessions, I learned empirically by observing and asking lots of questions. And it's by throwing myself into the deep end for Oxmo that I became, in fact, a sound engineer". Many other adventures, on stage or in the studio, with Beck, Katerine, Oumou Sangaré or The Foals, followed, until he met the duo Justice with whom he is now collaborating on the recording of their fourth album. "I like recording, I like having my hands on the console, I like putting distortion, reverb, having fun with the toys we have in the studio to give charisma to the music. It's exhilarating to be able to complete an artist's vision to give more style to the music”. Today, he is one of those complete artists, capable of understanding music, playing it, improvising, but also of "easily solving a tuning problem and knowing if the sound is pretty".
But at 42 years old, Vincent Taurelle also knows that he does not only want to please himself anymore: "I've passed this stage. I want to make music that really speaks to people”.
